What is the composition of CorrectDeck?
CorrectDeck is crafted from recovered hardwood
fiber and rugged, UV-stabilized polypropylene.
CorrectDeck combines a unique polypropylene-based
formula with a highly advanced manufacturing
process to yield a superior material. CorrectDeck
was the first composite decking manufacturer
to use polypropylene instead of polyethylene.
Polypropylene (think of Tupperware®
or red gas cans) makes it stronger, stiffer,
and lighter than other composites, so it
can span longer distances and withstand
higher temperatures with less expansion
and contraction. Request a Product Brochure.

Can I paint, stain, or water seal CorrectDeck?
You will never have to apply a water sealer
to CorrectDeck. Doing so will not yield
the positive results you would get when
applying it to natural wood products and
it will eliminate the opportunity for applying
a stain in the future since most water sealers
contain a wax-like component that will prevent
other coatings from adhering properly.
Once standard CorrectDeck has weathered
for at least two seasons, a good quality
solid or semi transparent oil or latex stain
can be applied. Do not attempt this process
on new material as results will not be acceptable.
Because CorrectDeck has a limited absorption
ability, you should never apply more than
one coat of product – the second coat
will remain on the surface and blotches
or tackiness will remain for extended periods
of time. Always work the wet edge of the
stain to avoid lap lines. It is best to
work down the full length of a few boards
rather than across the width of many boards
to avoid this problem.

What is the proper way to handle and store

Why do my Coastal Grey boards have a brown
cast?
Coastal Grey boards may have a brown cast
due to an artifact of the brownish color
of the recovered wood fibers used to make
the product. This exposed wood fiber weathers
to a gray color quickly and the brown or
reddish cast will fade away.
Will the color on every CorrectDeck board
be the same as the material produced at
a different time?
No, as with lumber, slight variations in
color may exist from board to board. Prior
to cutting and installing deck boards, layout
boards on deck to achieve a desired appearance.
If in the unlikely situation that a board
may not match the other boards on your deck
to your satisfaction, please return the
board to the retailer for exchange prior
to installation.
