Will I need to replace my CorrectDeck CX deck boards if the substructure needs to be replaced?

In this case, you will not need to purchase new CorrectDeck CX decking materials. If the substructure is deteriorating and needs to be replaced, all you will need to do is unscrew the fastenators (or the screws…depending on how you originally installed the CorrectDeck CX product), remove the CorrectDeck CX boards, replace the complete substructure and reattach the CorrectDeck CX boards.

What type of lumber should I use for framing my project?

We always suggest that our customers choose KDAT stamped framing lumber. This wood will be straighter and will also be lighter and easier to handle, and won't shrink and expand as much during and after the deck project. The reason why we make this suggestion is that we have seen a large decline in the quality of treated wood in the marketplace in the last 3 years, and it causes us frequent complaints and problems. The primary change has been a cost-saving move to skipping the KDAT (kiln-dried after treatment) step. This results in wood that twists and shrinks a lot after the deck frame is nailed together; resulting problems are often blamed on the decking surface.

What type of fastener should I use for the CorrectDeck CX Channeled boards?

The CorrectDeck CX Fastenator can be applied with staples or trim head screws. Pre-loaded Fastenators (with #7 x 2 ¼” trim head screws) can really speed up installation time.
