• A dead
blow hammer or heavy rubber
mallet may sometimes be needed
to tap the Fastenator into the
slot. A dead blow hammer, rubber
mallet or BoWrench™ can
also be used to help secure
the next Channeled board into
place. Stand on top of the board
you’re installing when
setting into Fastenators to
keep securely in place.
• Some
installers use a chisel or screwdriver
to hold the Fastenator in place
when stapling it to the joist.
• In
the case of a low joist, the
Fastenator may need to be shimmed
to seat in the groove.
• Take a measurement
of the total width of the installed
boards to check for parallel
every 3–4 courses as you’re
installing.
• Store
Fastenators indoors before use.
Fastenators install best between
40°F and 80°F.
• Many
people picture-frame Channeled
decks. You may use a classic
profile board for pictureframing
to provide a finished outer
edge. With this method use our
custom channeled router bit
to add the channeled groove
to the inside edge of the board.
The router bit is available
for purchase
here.
•
Fastenators may be installed
with # 7 x 21/4" square
drive trim head screws or 7/16"x
2"stainless steel staples.
Fastenators are available at
your local CorrectDeck dealer.
• Be
sure to lay all the boards out
on the deck prior to fastening
them down. The color consistency
of CorrectDeck is very good
but the human eye is very discerning.
There can be some very minor
shading differences from board
to board or lot to lot. The
direction of the woodgrain embossing
can also have a slight effect
on the perceived color –
choose the look you prefer by
pointing all the ‘cathedrals’
in the emboss the same direction
or alternating them. |
